Tasks & Aim The great aim of our activities is a step by step restoration of the baroque tombstones and to preserve the character of the cemetery as a whole.
There already exist a list of gravesites and tombstones in accordance to their state of conditions made by the Office of Historical Monuments. This categorisation is based on a simple visual assessment and in case of an actual restoration investigations such as mapping of the damage pattern, analysis of the rock properties and the salt content will be carried out. Together with this results concepts for the restoration will be drawn by the conservator to get an overview of necessary work and the cost. This concepts are a prerequisite to find sponsors and people for an adoption of a tombstone. We consider the historical cemetery not only as an object with endangered tombstones but also as a landscape-architectonical topic and an important part of city-planning.
The cemetery is a complex object with different and interesting matters to work with. Thats why we encourage, for example, students to define and realise their own students works for a mutual benefit: the students can carry out an interesting work and the cemetery can use the results. |
